Container and Indoor Gardening

Container planting is ideal in a number of situations - where the ground soil isn't suitable for particular plants, where you want to add colour to areas of paving or patios, where plants need to be moved to sheltered places during winter etc.

Containers generally fall into two groups, hanging baskets and troughs/pots. No matter which you use, the biggest reason for failing to succeed with container planting is watering, either too much watering, causing the plants to become waterlogged, or too little watering, causing the plants to suffer from drought stress.

Using Containers for Planting Many gardens have a hard landscaped area such as a patio or, nowadays, decking, that can look a bit too hard and barren or stand out like a sore thumb. By using various sorts of containers planted up the area can be softened to blend in with the rest of the garden.
