Propagation by Serpentine Layering

This method of propagation is basically a modification of ordinary layering and is done with plants possessing long stems. Climbing plants such as clematis, jasmine, honeysuckle, wisteria, passion flower and vines are particularly suited to this method of propagation.

Method -

Wound the long stems at intervals and peg them into the prepared ground in the same way as the normal layering technique but instead of a single layer, create several by looping the stem up between each pegging. In this way several new plants will be formed, usually within a year.
