Insect House

Insect House

This simple to make Insect House is basically intended to attract Lacewings into your garden.

Lacewings are predators of aphids and can eat a great number of them.

You will need an empty 3Ltr plastic bottle - the sort you buy lemonade in, a length of string, preferably nylon so that it won't rot and some corrugated cardboard, the same width as your bottle, from a box.

Cut the base off the bottle, roll up the cardboard and insert into the bottle. Tie one end of the string around the neck of the bottle and hand it in a tree in your garden.

The Lacewings will hibernate in the roll of cardboard over the winter.
